JessicaJessica Michelle Chastain was born March 24, 1977. She is an American actress, producer and model. Known for primarily starring in films with feminist themes. she has received various accolades such as an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. She made her professional stage debut as Shakespeare's Juliet in 1998. After studying acting at the Juilliard School, she was awarded a talent-holding contract with the TV producer John Wells. She was a frequent guest on several television shows, and also took on roles in several stage productions. Chastain's film debut was in Jolene (2008) at 31 years old. In 2011, Chastain achieved her breakthrough with six film releases including The Tree of Life (2011), Take Shelter (2011), and The Tree of Life (2012). Chastain was also nominated for Academy Award nominations as a character in The Help (2011), where she played an aspiring socialite, and Zero Dark Thirty (2012) as a CIA analyst. The most commercially successful films were the science fiction films Interstellar (2014) and The Martian (2015), as well as the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain's strong-willed roles in the dramas The Most Valuable Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), Molly's Game (2017) and Scenes from a Marriage (2021) were further praised. After portraying Tammy Faye Bakker, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress and Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21) and Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21). Chastain is the co-founder and investor of Freckle Films, a production company that encourages diversity in film. She is vocal about mental illness, gender equality and racial equality. She is married to the fashion executive Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo who is her partner.
